He graduated from the jazz piano department of Liszt Ferenc Music Academy in 2000 under the mentorship of Binder Károly. In 1997 he wins the first price of the International Jazz Piano Contest in Lithuania, in 1998 the Jas Hennessy Solo Piano Competition within the Montreux Jazz Festival and in 2000 and 2006 he is awarded the blue ribbon in Paris for his performance during the "4th International Martial Solal Piano Competition".
In 2001 he is admitted for studies at the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles where he performs alongside celebrities like Randy Brecker, Christian McBride and Roy Hargrove. In 2003 he begins his studies at the world famous New England Conservatory in Boston where he has the privilege of learning from personalities like Bob Brookmeyer and Danilo Perez, Jerry Bergonzi or Steve Lacy. He performs alongside Maria Schneider, Joe Lovano, George Russell, Harvey Mason among others. His concerts enjoy great success in both Boston and New York. In 2005 he finishes his Masters Degree.
He is the lead member of the Szabó Dániel Trio and member of "Borbély Műhely" and "Modern Art Orchestra". In 2007 the Szabó Dániel Trio releases its "Frictions" album featuring Kurt Rosenwinkel (Warner Jazz, London) which receives positive reviews from national and international critics as well. The band is a regular performer at national and international festivals and in 2007 were invited to play at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia during the jazz series organized by Danilo Perez. Furthermore, the Szabó Dániel Trio regularly performs alongside famous international musicians, like in 2007 when they played together with the saxophone artist Chris Potter from New York during the Mediawave Festival in Győr.
In Europe he often performed with the famous Italian saxophone player Rosario Giuliani and in 2005 with Kurt Rosenwinkel who was featured as a special guest of the Szabó Dániel Trio within the MOL Jazz Festival in Budapest. He later receives an invitation to perform in Rosenwinkel's band. The European tour of the world famous quartet ends in the Blue Note in Milan in November 2005. During the same period he also tours together with the saxophone player Eric Marienthal (Chick Corea Electric Band)
