Freshmen's Camp

The Freshmen’s Camp is organized at the very start of every academic year for our new coming students. This program combines a relaxed atmosphere and fun with a slightly more formal introduction to the first steps of a freshman at KJU. It’s all about getting to know each other, playing games, enjoying the last moments of summer and getting insight into university life.

Imprint Party, Nations’ Cuisine

Studying in an intercultural environment is not only about gaining knowledge in general, but also learning about and experiencing different cultures! During the Nations’ Cuisine event students make and taste their nations’ traditional meals, while at the Imprint Party all our students can leave their palm prints on our campus walls and become a member of the KJU community forever.

Thematic Weeks

Every semester integrates 2 thematic weeks where students can participate in programs that are out of the ordinary and they can take a glimpse ‘behind the scenes’. We organize study field trips to hotels and international companies as well as invite prominent professionals such as bank managers, CEOs, entrepreneurs, and diplomats to offer workshops and give presentations on the hot issues of their field and current global challenges.

Excursions Organized by the International Office of KJU

Would you fancy going cycling around the two largest lakes in Hungary, Lake Velence and Lake Balaton while enjoying traditional Hungarian dishes or taking a field trip to Hungary’s wine regions and tasting the wine of traditional winemakers and meeting wine business and marketing professionals? Are you more into heritage tourism and visiting famous castles museums or exhibitions in Hungary or exploring Vienna and its cultural heritage? All it is possible here! Our international team ensures you have unforgettable experiences by organizing excursions every semester.

And what about another huge benefit of studying in Budapest? You are in the heart of Europe and most European capitals are within easy reach, let it be Rome, Paris, or London in just a few hours by plane. You can explore Europe cost-and time-efficiently thanks to free travel within the Schengen Zone and several low-cost airlines.

Sports at KJU

KJU awaits students with a colorful sports palette. Those looking for active exercise will have the opportunity to play football, table tennis, badminton, basketball, tennis, teqball, teqpong, streetball and join the Kodolányi Running Team. During the opening hours, KJU's fitness facilities and sports equipment can be used by students without restriction and free of charge.

KJU ski camps have a history of more than 25 years. This family-oriented activity welcomes students, teachers, their family members, and friends. Our rector is always among the participants, too. An important consideration in choosing a venue is that everyone, from beginners to professionals, will find a slope that suits their skills. In addition to skiing, evening programs are also popular, with the participants. The most popular venues include Superdevoluy, Risoul, Les2Alpes and Isola2000 in France.

Students’ Union (HÖK)

KJU Students’ Union is working for the students and their well-being. It is a broad-based organization of members elected by the students of the university, whose main task is to represent the interests of the students and to ensure the flow of information between the students and the units of the institution. It also focuses on enriching the students’ educational, sport and social life by organizing social events, of which the most important and biggest is the annually organized Freshmen’s Camp.
