STUDENT VISA
Non-EEA citizens must have a valid student visa („D” type visa) to study in Hungary. We highly recommend all applicants to study carefully the current legislation concerning the visa and the residence permit at the Hungarian Embassy or Consulate in their home country.
EU and EEA (European Economic Area = EU + Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) citizens do not need to hold a student visa to enter Hungary, but has to apply for a Registration Certificate before or after their arrivel to Hungary.
RESIDENCE PERMIT
Non-EEA citizens need to apply for the residence permit for the Purpose of Study together with the visa application before arrival in Hungary.

REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE
EU and EEA students have to register for a Registration card to have the right of residence exceeding 90 days.

IMPORTANT: The application and the list of documents required by the Office is based on nationality (and not the country you are studying in).
All International Students have the obligation to notify the Immigration Office of their arrival and either register for the Registration Certificate/Residence Permit or pick up their issued Registration Certificate/Residence Permit card.
