ENTERING HUNGARY UNDER COVID-19

2022.03.08.

The Hungarian Government announced the lifting of the currently existing restrictions.

The obligation to wear a mask is abolished from Monday (07/03/2022) on public transport, in shops, shopping malls, post offices, customer service, theaters, cinemas, museums and sports events, and employees of catering establishments will not have to wear a mask during their work. Wearing a mask is still obligatory in healthcare institutions and in nursing homes.

In addition to the above, all restrictions that have linked the use of a domestic service to a vaccination certificate will be removed. Restrictions on events will be lifted, and a vaccination card will no longer be required for sports events, cultural events, music and dance events and outdoor events for more than 500 people.

Restrictions on entry into the territory of Hungary will also be lifted.

The rules for issuing and validating a security card remain unchanged, as they have been developed in accordance with the rules on the EU COVID card, and it is still up to the EU countries to determine whether to link entry to a COVID card.

The government will continue to provide vaccination to anyone who wants to take advantage of the vaccination. Vaccination can still be taken at hospital vaccines, GPs and pediatricians. The registration and appointment website is open all day, and there will be vaccination days every week in March.

Vaccination is still expected from health and social workers, as well as in national defense, but will be lifted in other areas of the administration.

Dear Students,

Recently, the government has officially lifted the restrictions for most of the regulations as the number of people of vaccinated people has surpassed 5.5 million. Masks are only obligatory in medical institutions. Public places, public transports, shops, restaurants, etc., do not require their guests to enter the premises with a mask or an immunity card.

The regulations for students who would like to enter Hungary will depend on the bilateral agreements that the government and the other countries have agreed on. Citizens from countries: Austria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia can travel without proof of anti-body or vaccination. More details can be found on the National Police Headquarter's website. All students must prepare their official papers, valid ID or passport, and the acceptance letter/ invitation letter from KJU in advance, as the customs will ask for them.

Please check your embassy/ consultants' website for all questions regarding visa applications, entering Hungary, required documents, etc.

We are trying our best to provide on-campus classes for all the students starting from September. However, all will be based on the government's updates.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at: international@kodolanyi.hu

2020.09.24.

Dear Students,

After 3 weeks of online learning, the KJU management analyzed the situation and has found that the spread of the epidemic has not slowed down, the pandemic situation is still uncertain in Hungary, the entry into the country is difficult and is allowed in various phases. Under these circumstances, the possibility of classroom (face-to-face) education cannot be fully secured for everyone. For this reason, to provide access to education and course materials without restriction to everyone, we will continue with the online form of education this semester. However, we are looking for the possibility of organizing contact programs, of which we will notify you in time.

In case you need help or support, do not hesitate to contact us.

Best Regards,

The International Office

Based on the latest restrictions valid from 1 September 2020, https://www.portfolio.hu/en/economy/20200828/hungary-to-close-borders-from-1-september-446442, all international students fall into the category of regulations for entering Hungary from a ’red zone’ country. Please, consider that the two-week quarantine is mandatory for all incoming students unless they present two negative  SARS-CoV-2 tests taken within 5 days after their entry and in an interval of 48 hours between the two tests. Tests made outside of Hungary are not accepted any more. Entrance into Hungary is allowed based on the official documents and the medical check at the border. Please, do not start your travel if you have any symptoms of illness!  Please read the  “Before Travelling to Hungary” section below for details and the submission of police requests.

2020.07.15.

According to Government Decree 341/2020 (VII. 12) on travel restrictions during the pandemic preparedness period, several changes and entry restrictions have been introduced.

Based on the current level of infection in other countries, the National Chief Medical Officer has listed countries into three categories – red, yellow and green –with different levels of border crossing restrictions. Please, check the following link for constant country updates:   https://helpers.hu/hu/egyeb/country-categories-for-entry-to-hungary-updated-regularly/

Before starting your travel arrangements, please stay informed about the current rules. Click here for the detailed entry rules and quarantine requirements depending on the country you are coming from.

The government is constantly monitoring the infection data in the world and makes changes in the decisions accordingly. New changes are introduced weekly; please follow the website of the Consulate and the National Police as often as possible for information on changes

Before Travelling to Hungary

On admission, KJU shall issue a certificate for entry to Hungary for all international students. The identification of the students based on their non-personal data (passport number and nationality) will be recorded in a central unified electronic interface set up for inspection by the National Police Headquarters.

Before departure, you must print out the Certificate already signed and stamped by KJU and fill in the sections as specified by hand. Do not forget to bring the required document with you to the immigration authorities.

All international students (freshmen student, upper-semester student or Erasmus+ student) travelling from a “red-category” country must submit an equity request and fill out an online police registration before departure to Hungary. Please fill in the form herehttps://ugyintezes.police.hu/en/home

You will find the user guide for submission here.

Documents you need to upload on registration:

After submitting the police form, within a few days, you will receive an Official Decision letter. When receiving the Official Decision letter, feel free to e-mail it to us at international@kodolanyi.hu; as the document is issued in Hungarian, we are more than happy to help you! If you have any questions whilst filling the form out, feel free to contact us for help.

Please, remember to print the Official Decision letter out before travelling as it is crucial when you enter Hungary.

Due to these regulations, KJU has decided to introduce changes in the upcoming fall semester.

Until further notice, all courses will be held online until 30th September. From 1st October, courses will be taught on our Budapest campus.
