Kodolányi János University of Applied Sciences Borka Richter was born and educated in South Africa, where she began her academic career in 1979, as Junior Lecturer (Rand Afrikaans University). She has lived in Germany and is now based in Hungary, where she is on the faculty of the Department of English Language and Literature at Kodolányi János University of Applied Sciences. Her personal experiences led to her interest and research in bilingualism and bilingual education, as well as translation studies. She is currently writing her doctoral dissertation at the University of Pécs.
