Country formalities

There are two types of residence permits in Hungary, depending on the duration of your stay in the country. If you as an EU/EGT country student intend to stay in Hungary for less than a year, you will have to apply for a temporary residence permit. If you intend to stay for more than a year, you will have to apply for a long-term residence permit. In both cases you will have to fill in an "application form for residence permit" and a "housing address registration form". At the Immigration Office you will have to present your valid passport, your student visa, your foreign currency account statement and a certificate that you are studying at Kodolányi János University of Applied Sciences. Duty stamps are also important - 7,000 HUF (approx. 23 EUR) both for the temporary permit and for the long-term permit.
